Miglena Koleva is our Operational Accountant and has been in the company for a few months now. She is passionate about diving into the unknown and getting new experiences and knowledge out of every situation. Meggy, as we all call her, is also fascinated with the way Kingly Ltd. managed to transform its product line in just a few weeks and to get a 150% turnover during the Covid-19 pandemic. Let’s learn more about her and how her superpowers contribute to the company’s growth.
How did you get interested in accounting? It is usually a profession that a lot of people find quite boring.
It all started when I was in high school. I studied the subject for a while. I can say that Math is my strong suit. I decided to continue studying accounting at the university. Later, I started working at a shop but I got bored with the job very easily. My next step was to apply for a job at a bigger company. They gave me the opportunity to develop in the field and I realized that I was truly fascinated with it. I really, really liked it. I didn’t see it as the boring job everyone thinks that accountants have. Also, I am really grateful to Kingly Ltd. for giving me the opportunity to develop even more and learn new things.
Was there anything specific that attracted you to come work for Kingly Ltd.? We are primarily focused on producing textiles for the promotional market and that is something very particular. How did you decide to become a part of the team?
I like the very concept of the company. I admire its innovativeness, its drive for success and the fact that it constantly introduces new products to the market. Moreover, instead of closing doors during the Covid-19 pandemic, it began to grow further. Not everyone can do that. I am extremely impressed by the efforts of the management team in that direction. They can make an exciting product out of anything – T-shirts, socks, even the hygiene products and the sanitizer gels.
What are the qualities you think you have as a professional to help the company develop even more?
I like to dive into things I haven’t done before. I think that I can participate in tackling any challenge, every new project that the company gets involved with. And the fact that I don’t know something is not a problem for me. On the contrary, it makes me even more ambitious, more thrilled to learn more and contribute to the development of the company. Also, I think that I work very well with the others.
Who are the people in the team that you can count on the most?
I think I bother Mira the most. (smiles) I would say I can rely on Dessy Traykova and Annie as well. I read, then I harass them by asking questions, etc. (both laughing) I like each and every one of my colleagues and I feel good in their company. I hope they feel good in my company too.
What are the good practices that you think should stay in the company? Is there anything you would change?
Communication is constant and that is a good thing. When you have a problem, you can directly go to the manager and communicate it. This is absent in many other companies. There is usually a barrier between the manager and the employees, but this is not the case in Kingly Ltd. I hope that even when the company employs more people things will stay the same.
What is the most challenging part of the job?
The company exports its products and the work is a little bit more specific. It is different from other companies that just sell services. I find this very interesting. Every day is different and brings a new challenge. It is interesting that each invoice, each document is specific.
Now I started digging into Occupational Medicine and that this is something that triggers my interest as well. All these rules and documents are new to me. I have come across some of them before, but I was only touching the surface. For other people, these might seem as super insignificant things, but every single document is important. Even occupational safety, which we all know about. However, it’s good to know that you can stop by the signs and read the information again and again. And you know that you have to stick to the rules and safety tips.
What does an accountant like to do in her spare time? What are you excited about? What are your passions?
In my free time I like to walk my dog. I have a little dog, a Yorkshire Terrier, a little girl, a doll. I like to go out with friends, and I try to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I love to cook, there are many recipes that I experiment with. At the moment, one of my favorites consists of ingredients that are protein only – cottage cheese, eggs, etc. I make fantastic protein cookies.
